JLR: question:  do you know how bonds work?
Me: Yeah. The idea is that James Bond is just a codename, a position for top agents in MI6, and this explains why there have been so many "Bonds" while the rest, like Moneypenny and Q and M have stayed the same and aged. So, Casino Royale wasn't so much a reboot as it was an induction for the latest "Bond"
JLR: cute. i mean, i understand bonds.  You give a loan, regular interest is paid and then the principal is paid upon maturity. here's what i don't get:  how would one sell a worthless bond to a bank without the bank knowing?
Me: Ian Flemming would take great offense at you calling his greatest character worthless, and I don't think he had any problem taking it to the bank. Prepare to be murdered by SMERSH.
